It all started with a love of history and a collection of vintage recipe books.
Always on the lookout for interesting old cookbooks. Here at Pie Supper, we love finding vintage recipe clippings or handwritten recipe cards stuck within the pages. Returning to a simpler time when the kitchen was the heart of the home.

Pie Supper: A desire to preserve old traditions and vintage recipes.
At Pie Supper we love collecting old cookbooks, especially from the Ozarks. The creativity that home cooks would express through their recipes back when sharing was an important part of community life inspires us daily. There was a pride in creating a recipe you were known for and could pass down to children and grandchildren, or be asked to share in your local church cookbook or fundraiser.
Years ago I was gifted a box of old recipes my husband’s Grandma had collected from friends and family over the years. As I was flipping through the cards in the box I came across an unusual recipe that caught my eye. This particular hand written recipe card gave instructions on how to mix up enough dough for 16 pies. I began thinking of the community gatherings that filled tables with home cooked food and brought people together. Mimi, as her 18 great-grandkids called her, was one of those special people that made everyone feel welcome. She kept passing the bowls and platters around her table to make sure everyone was well fed and well loved.
We want to keep our love for the Ozarks culture and traditions alive through the story of food and how it connects our past to our future. Our desire in sharing these recipes is to reconnect with cooking for the sake of taking pride in our families and homes.
The term Pie Supper comes from an old tradition in the Ozarks where pies were auctioned to raise money for local causes. You can read more about this tradition here. Just like those warm community gatherings, we hope to inspire connection and togetherness with every recipe we share.
